There is no permanent winner. A retailer might offer a higher standard rate on TopCashback one day and run an “upsized” ShopBack promotion the next. Different categories within the same store can also earn different rates.

TopCashback’s Highest Cashback Guarantee is useful when an established Australian cashback site displays a better equivalent rate at the same time. The claim must meet its conditions: it must cover the same merchant and equivalent offer, the purchase must track, and member-specific or paid-club promotions do not qualify.

ShopBack requires at least A$10 of Confirmed Cashback before withdrawal. It supports an Australian bank account or PayPal, and its help centre says processing can take a number of working days.

TopCashback permits payout through BECS bank transfer or PayPal for any amount above A$0.01 once the cashback is Available. That makes it easier to withdraw small balances rather than leaving them sitting in the account.

ShopBack has a more prominent gift-card marketplace. Participating digital gift cards can earn cashback immediately, although the rate and terms vary by card. This can be useful for supermarkets, department stores, travel and planned larger purchases.

ShopBack also runs app promotions and Quests that can add a fixed bonus after specified actions. Do not let a small bonus encourage an unnecessary purchase, and check whether paying with a gift card affects the retailer’s standard click-through cashback.

TopCashback also lists gift cards and promotional bonuses, but its clearest advantage remains conventional retailer cashback and the Highest Cashback Guarantee.

Both services depend on affiliate tracking. A purchase can fail to track if another coupon or cashback site receives the final click, an ad blocker prevents tracking, the retailer app opens unexpectedly, or the product and voucher code are excluded.

First, wait for the tracking period displayed on the retailer page. Tracking can be quick for one merchant and take longer for another.

Submit the claim promptly. ShopBack notes that merchant reporting windows are often around 30–90 days, although the exact deadline varies. A claim is an investigation, not a guarantee of payment.

ShopBack: enter referral code hWsSRn while registering. Referral rewards and qualifying targets can change, so confirm the offer displayed during signup. ShopBack’s current help guidance says qualification depends on the invited member earning the required amount of Confirmed Cashback within the campaign period.

TopCashback: join through the CheapyOZ referral link. TopCashback’s public referral page currently mentions a new-member bonus, while separate promotional landing pages can show different amounts and spending conditions. The amount and qualification displayed on the page you actually use should be treated as the applicable offer.

If I had to choose only one, I would start with TopCashback because the payout threshold is effectively negligible and the rate guarantee strengthens its core cashback proposition. But ShopBack is still worth keeping for gift cards, app-only bonuses and occasional boosted rates.

The sensible habit is simple: decide what you are buying first, then compare both. Never buy something merely because the cashback percentage looks high.
